In conventional separation processes, solids are removed from liquids, or two liquids of different densities are separated. In real-world operations, however, solids and multiple liquid phases are often present at the same time. Three-phase separators address this challenge by continuously separating solids, a light liquid phase, and a heavy liquid phase in a single, streamlined process.
For effective three-phase separation, the two liquid phases must be immiscible and have different densities, and the solid phase must have the highest specific gravity. This technology is especially valuable in applications such as oil sludge treatment, wheat starch processing, and fat recovery.
Three-phase separating decanter offer several design options for discharging the liquid phases. In configurations where a centripetal pump discharges the light phase while the heavy phase is discharged by gravity, the light liquid exits the centrifugal bowl through a replaceable regulating ring and is pumped out under pressure by the centripetal pump. At the same time, the heavy liquid is discharged by gravity through a replaceable regulating tube. The optimal configuration depends on the material being processed and the customerโs site layout.
Huading’s series of three-phase decanter centrifuges are designed for reliability and efficiency, offering proven performance and industry-leading safety features at a low cost. This series achieves new levels of control, speed, and reliability, making it ideal for recovering and reusing valuable resources in edible and non-edible oils and their by-products, oil and gas, and industrial applications.
